I know it’s been a while since I last wrote! I’ve been blogging at another site called Bloggers for John McCain 08. It has really been a fun experience, working together with folks that share conservative values as I do. A lot of things have happened…the election was one of them…of course! And Obama won! Perhaps, that’s why I haven’t written a whole lot - it’s a tough pill to swallow! Trust me, I will get over it! It will take time though. I’m not like the liberals that threw a fit when Bush won in 2004! Some even vouched that they’d leave this country! No, I’m not going to do that. I love this country and I won’t leave, no matter who the president is.

I’m still trying to decide what to write first after my long absence. It’s just that there are TONS of things to write about that I got overwhelmed! So, let’s just start with something light - the cartoons below, courtesy of Red Planet Cartoons.

Sounds Familiar? Check this out! Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act of 1993.

His promise was just it…PROMISE. It never materialized. What’s the guarantee that the ONE is going to act differently if chosen to be the OMNI ONE? Better vote for the party who already HAS THE TRACK RECORD of cutting taxes rather than a party that PROMISES cutting taxes. It’s really funny to see how one party (the Dems) feels like it has to adopt the other party (the Republicans) platform to win the general election. Could it be because if they come out, show their true and tried ideology of taxing and spending, and say “We’ll increase your taxes to fund our programs (i.e. spending)”, any sane person would say NO? So they have to pretend to be something they’re not? Hmmm…interesting!

Breath of Fresh Air! Who Says GOP is a Party for only White Old Rich Men?

Please watch the following movies with an open mind…Afterall, Liberals always say that they’re the champions of being tolerant and open-minded :) So, please do act like one (even if you have to pretend :) :) ) Leave comments if you wish. By the way…I’m a non-white young middle class women (i.e. a MINORITY), just in case you’re wondering.

Why am I writing this post? Because I’m sick and tired of hearing that Republicans don’t care about women, Republicans don’t care about black people, Republicans don’t care about minority, Republicans don’t care about single parent, Republicans are evil for not wanting to give money to the poor (through our beloved government). How about this…how about if we put our race aside and see ourselves as American first for once? (DuH…even for this I have to wait for 6 months…and yet I’m boiling to hear all this Republican bashing all over the place, as if being a Republican and a Conservative is a SIN!).

So, let us sit back and relax, light some incense to free your mind from all the Republican and Conservative disdains and watch these movies. You can also listen to Enya if you think it will help you free your mind up :P

What Lead to the Collapse of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac - Part 2

For the past couple week, we’ve been hearing all the bad news about the US economic situation, from the cable TV news (CNN, MSNBC, FOX news, CNBC) to local news (ABC, CBS, Fox etc.) For those of you that don’t know what’s been going on for the past couple weeks, here’s what’s happened:

1) Lehman Brother filed the largest bankruptcy in American history

NEW YORK (AFP) — Lehman Brothers declared bankruptcy Monday and Merrill Lynch announced a rescue sale in a series of dramas in the US financial system which hit European stocks as soon as trading began.

The stunning fall of Lehman Brothers, one of the highest profile investment institutions, came after a frantic weekend marking a dangerous new chapter in the financial crisis sparked by failings in the subprime home-loan market. [..]

2) Merrill Lynch got bought by Bank of America

NEW YORK (MarketWatch) — As the financial world crumbled around it, venerable brokerage firm Merrill Lynch & Co. sought refuge and agreed to be taken over by Bank of America in an all-stock deal that could be worth $50 billion, but investors seemed cool to the idea by the time the markets closed Monday. [...]

3) AIG was bailed out by the US Goverment by giving them a loan

WASHINGTON (MarketWatch) — Saying that a disorderly failure of American International Group would add stress to fragile financial markets, the Federal Reserve agreed late Tuesday to lend the giant insurance firm $85 billion. [...]

4) Fannie Mae and Freddie Mae Collapsed and Taken Over by the US Government

The U.S. government seized control of the mortgage giants Fannie Mae (FNM: 1.83, -0.11, -5.67%) and Freddie Mac (FRE: 2.00, +0.14, +7.52%) on Sunday, placing the liabilities of more than $5 trillion of mortgages onto the backs of the U.S. taxpayer. [...]

5) Washington Mutual (WAMU) collapses. This is by far, the biggest US bank failure to date. JPMorgan Chase purchases parts of WAMU for 1.9 billion dollars.

The financial turmoil in the United States has claimed another institution in what is being called the biggest banking failure in American history.

US regulators have seized Washington Mutual and sold some of its assets to JPMorgan for nearly $2 billion. [...]

Okay…here’s the deal. If you notice, none of the financial instutions above was taken over by the government other than Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. What does that mean? It means, the US government now is the creditor of $ 5 trillions worth of mortfage loans. That means the US government now is the creditor of $ 5,000,000,000,000 worth of mortgage loans! WOW! By taking Fannie and Freddie over, it means now mortgagors (i.e. homeowners) owe their mortgage to the US Government instead of Fannie and Freddie. U.S. Government - U.S. Taxpayers - US, the people. So, how did Fannie Mae and Freedie Mac get dragged into this financial mess? It all started since they started buying paper (mortgage notes) from other lending institutions that lent morgage to the subrprime market. What is subprime market? See this article, “Going Subprime, Will Low-Income Homebuyers Gain or Lose When Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac Move Into the Subprime Lending Market”

The recent foray into the subprime mortgage market by Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac has renewed the debate over their role in the affordable housing arena. The subprime market targets borrowers with credit problems or limited credit histories who do not qualify for cheaper, prime loans. Fannie and Freddie traditionally have purchased a small share of these loans, but this figure is expected to grow significantly in the next few years. Proponents say that the two huge intermediaries can bring better pricing for some subprime borrowers and help to curb predatory lending. Competitors and some analysts say they will only cream the least risky borrowers, making other subprime loans even more costly to borrowers who need them. Still others forecast that a bigger role in the subprime market may pave the way for making traditional prime loans more expensive for some borrowers [...]

The subprime market targets borrowers with credit problems or limited credit histories who do not qualify for cheaper, prime loans. Hmm…last time I checked, if you have credit problems or limited credit histories, you can’t even apply for a credit card…but you can buy a HOUSE?

Let me tell you…I have some friends here that long to buy a house, to be homeowners, but realize that because financially they have some constraints, they decide to put that dream on hold. But sadly, there are people out there that do not have such common sense and responsibility to educate themselves (for homeowners) or the potential homeowners (for mortgage brokers, lenders, real estate agents) that this dream of home ownerships, while it is everybody’s dream, it is also a dream that once achieved, comes with a great of financial responsibility!

So going back to the subprime loans, how did it all start? When and how financial institutions start lending money to the subprime market? Here’s what I’ve found:

When does LIFE begin?

I never asked myself this question since I’ve always thought that the answer is: since the time of conception, when male sperm meets woman egg. DUH…how can one ask this question? O boy…it turns out the answer is far more complicated than that…listen..

Honestly, my head hurts just by listening to this talk. I have never really questioned myself about this before. Then, I found this cool video…

To me personally, after watching this video, it reaffirms what I’ve always believed that LIFE begins at the conception as that is when a HUMAN BEING is created, when the 2 sets of the chromosomes (i.e. DNA) from the male and female meet and intertwine to form a NEW set of chromosomes that is unique to that BEING. Moreover, I’ve found another article titled “When Do HUMAN BEINGS Begin - Scientific Myths and Scientific Facts” by the American Bioethics Advisory Commission. Here’s an excerpt from it:

MYTH 1: “Pro-lifers claim that the abortion of a human embryo or a human fetus is wrong because it destroys human life. But human sperms and human ova are human life too. So pro-lifers would also have to say that the destruction of human sperms and human ova are abortions too - and that is ridiculous!”

FACT 1: As pointed out above in the background section, there is quite a difference, scientifically, between parts of a human being that only possess “human life” and a human embryo or human fetus that is an actual “human being.” Abortion is the destruction of a human being. Destroying a human sperm or a human oocyte would not constitute abortion, since neither are human beings. The issue is not when does human LIFE begin, but rather when does the life of every human BEING begin. A human kidney or liver, a human skin cell, a sperm or an oocyte all possess human LIFE, but they are not human BEINGS - they are only parts of a human being. If a single sperm or a single oocyte were implanted into a woman’s uterus, they would simply rot. They would not grow as human embryos or human fetuses who are human beings.

MYTH 2: “The product of fertilization is simply a ‘blob’, a ‘bunch of cells’, a ‘piece of the mother’s tissues’.”

FACT 2: As demonstrated above, the human embryonic organism formed at fertilization is a whole human being, and therefore it is not just a “blob” or a “bunch of cells.” This new human individual also has a mixture of both the mother’s and the father’s chromosomes, and therefore it is not just a “piece of the mother’s tissues.” Quoting Carlson:

… [T]hrough the mingling of maternal and paternal chromosomes, the zygote is a genetically unique product of chromosomal reassortment, which is important for the viability of any species. (emphasis added)

MYTH 3: “The immediate product of fertilization is just a ‘potential’ or a ‘possible’ human being - not a real existing human being.”

FACT 3: As demonstrated above, scientifically there is absolutely no question whatsoever that the immediate product of fertilization is a newly existing human being. A human zygote is a human being. It is NOT a “potential” or a “possible” human being.

MYTH 4: “A single-cell human zygote, or embryo, or fetus are not human beings, because they do not look like human beings.”

FACT 4: As all human embryologists know, a single-cell human zygote, or a more developed human embryo, or human fetus is a human being - and that that’s the way they are supposed to look at those particular periods of development.

MYTH 5: “The immediate product of fertilization is just an “it” - it is neither a girl nor a boy.”

FACT 5: The immediate product of fertilization is genetically already a girl or a boy - determined by the kind of sperm which fertilizes the oocyte. Quoting Carlson again:

…[T]he sex of the future embryo is determined by the chromosomal complement of the spermatozoon. (If the sperm contains 22 autosomes and 2 X chromosomes, the embryo will be a genetic female, and if it contains 22 autosomes and an X and a Y chromosome, the embryo will be a genetic male.)

Then, why can’t Nancy Pelosi and Barack Obama answer the question straight? Is it really politically incorrect to say that LIFE begins at conception or when the heart is formed or when the head is formed…whatever…they are the leaders of this nation (or potential leader)! At least have some convictions! It’s not like you’re asked to explain the theory of relativism by Albert Einstein!

I may not be a deep thinker. I may not be a scholar. I may not be a professor. Hence I don’t have the nuance aspect of understanding things. What I am is a mother who feels really lucky and blessed that God has given her the most precious gift…a gift that not everyone that wants it can have…a gift that for some people are considered a burden that it must be terminated (WARNING: Only click this if you have a strong heart, in appropriate place i.e. not at work, and in an area where there are no children around you)…a gift that must be taken into consideration wisely whether you are ready or not for the responsibility it brings (in addition to the joy!)…

So if you ask me again: When does LIFE begin…or to be exact…when does a human BEING begin? I would answer: At the conception. Does that mean I dislike those that have different opinions? Absolutely NOT. I just disagree with them :) They are entitled to their opinion, I am entitled to mine.

It’s just my personal opinion, but I think that LIFE is so precious and it’s a God’s given right to human kind. So, is it right, to take the right to live away from ANYBODY, including a fetus/embryo? This is when it is important to be able to discern when Life begins to answer this question. A thing..a blob…can not have any rights. However, a human BEING has the God’s given right to live from the moment it’s created. If the thing does not have a right to live, the thing can be terminated at any cause. If it turns out that the thing is actually a human BEING, does terminating it equate to uumm…possibly…killing it? *** tick***tock***tick***tock***

Allright, since even Nancy and Barack are still confused up to this day in regards to when LIFE begins, let’s just celebrate LIFE and not fry our brains in our efforts to answer the question that even our leader and potential leader can not answer! No matter what side you’re on…this ad will make you pause for a moment and think…and probably cry a little…That’s what happened to me :)

The Palin Factor’ Sparks Fear and Enthusiasm…in California!

Wow! When I read this headline I felt like I was dreaming! I even had to pinch myself for few times to make sure that I wasn’t dreaming! And sure enough, I wasn’t! Seriously, this story titled “The Palin Factor’ Sparks Fear and Enthusiasm” really sounds unbelievable considering California is one of the biggest liberal states (other than New York) in the nation.

There was never much enthusiasm about any republican presidential candidates here in California since Ronald Reagan because, let’s face it… to be enthusiastic about someone means that you have great HOPES in that someone…hope that somone to WIN the race, hope that someone to change things that don’t work, hope that someone to set policies that can help us as a country and its citizens, hope that someone to turn things around…HOPE! The conservative movement found their HOPE in Ronald Reagan in 1981, have lost it through out the years and apparently they found their HOPE again in Sarah Palin in 2008!

Sarah Palin to the Republican party is like Barack Obama to the Democrat party. They represent HOPE 1st, CHANGE second or HOPE for CHANGE? :) I don’t know anymore. These days, there are just too many slogans being thrown around the campaign trail from both tickets, Republicans and Democrats. However, there’s only one that actually represents CHANGE because they actually have implemented some CHANGE. And guess which one that is! For I believe that for REAL CHANGE to happen, HOPE AND CHANGE should not just be campaign slogans for - they should be what the candidates have lived and breathed throughout their lives as public servants.  I will be doing my own chronicles about the Candidates and their Veeps on this topic. It should be interesting!

Guess which candidate actually WALKS the TALK and not just TALK the TALK? For example, since the Dems (currently represented by Barack Obama) always says that it’s the party that has always championed and will always champion womens’ rights, so I decided to do a little bit of google search on the following topics:

a) who pays more his campaign female staff (you can actually copy and paste this phrase and get some results…a lot of results actually)

b) who has more female and diverse staff in US presidential cabinet (you can actually copy and paste this phrase and get some results!)…here are some hints: Condoleezza Rice, Collin Powell, Margaret Spellings, Alberto Gonzales, Carlos Gutierrez…hmmm…Have I named more than one already? :)

It should be interesting ladies and gentlemen…let’s see who’s blowing HOT AIR here!
